I went to the local dealer in Fremont to get a spare key on Monday. The dealer had a used black limited which included the warranty on the showroom floor. My son called that evening to find out what they wanted. The asking price was 35,000.00, he said thanks and hung up. Thirty seconds later the phone rings and it was the dealer telling my son if he was interested it was on a manager special for 32,000.00.

Lisa,
Is that flamed PT in Champaign, IL? At a local collision repair shop? If so, I looked at it too a couple days ago. Very sharp! As for the price...flames are not easy to layout (IE: labor $$), the paint used on the entire front of the car fading back into the flames is Chromalusion which is expensive (more $$). Both bumpers were smoothed and painted (even more $$) and it had a rear spoiler painted with the same paint as the flames (and even more $$). Now maybe their price is a little high, but try pricing that kind of quality paint work, it doesn't come cheap! Proper prep work and layout takes time and time cost money. BTW - I don't work for them, nor do I know them, although I do know who did the flames and he is the best flame painter in the area. All that being said, I'd place the value closer to $24K. A local dealer in my area had a base PT for sale on his lot. It was used with 600 miles on it. The only options on it were sunroof, auto trans, cruise, and CD/cass. radio. The asking price...$24,950. It sat on the lot for about 1 month. This past week they put it on "sale" for $21,950. Finally got it sold. However, I know for sure that the car new could not have listed for over $18,500. I realize the PT is an awesome car, but I hate it when dealers take advantage of the average car buyer.

My 27F AquaMachine will be here in a few days or so (at MSRP). I was just crossing my fingers, hoping my 90 Laser would last just a little while longer, when I heard an ad for a local CPJ dealer who had 4 PTs on the lot all ready to sell. I was near the place so I stopped in. Salesman took me down to the prep shop to see the 3 remaining PTs. They were all F pkgs with auto trans, moon roof, CD. The cran was actually sold. That left silver for $19,5 or a shale with 16" chrome and a gold pin stripe for about $21,8. A protection pkg would be added to the price. Salesman said he could get me a theft deterant package (I thought Fs had same security as limiteds). Couple hundred dollars down. Ha ha!

Kustom Kruzr-It was in Champaign at sellers collision. My problem is not that I don't think the paint job is first rate, it is that I just know it is not a new car. I appreciate the artwork and yes it does look sharp to the max, but I think it is ridiculous to charge that much more for a used car that has been altered. If it gets wrecked, how would you ever fix that paint job? Also, if they have altered other things on the car, will it still be protected by warranty?
