Unhappy Motor Mount Worn out

Hi,
Got my 01 PT in for 60K service today. The service guys found a worn motor mount on the right side. Did anyone have similar problems?

I had my PT lowerd 2in with Progressive Springs. They tried to weasle me out for a warranty service because my car was lowerd...I said bull. So they'll call me again.

They said motor mount replacement job alone would cost:
Part: $48
Labor: ~$500 !!!

Y'all beware.

OUCH!!!!! I just snapped a motor mount in my Suzuki from too much hp luckly it fixed with a good ole mig welder. That Labour cost seems high too me DC shops tend to charge shop time by the book. i.e. a given job in the book may say that takes 6 hours to install when only takes an hour. I was really hosed 20+ years ago when I owned my Vette my nice friendly GM dealer stuck it to me for $967 for a tune up that totally screwed up my car leaving two broken spark plugs in my engine block

Silly Twits!!!! I never bought a GM product after that

Yeah. They were trying to connect the dots but no dots to see.

Just got a call from them again...they'll cover it under warranty.
Phew.

Anyway, here's my rap sheet @60K:
-Alternator belt and 1 other belt cracked
-Water pump whining in cold morning starts
-Right motor mount worn
-Engine sounds like a deisel dog...too much valve taps and claps!

Oh, this gonna hurt me wallet.

glad to hear theyre gonna cover the mount, It seems to me that most dealers will tell you its your responsibility and not covered at first to see if the customer will foot the bill only to back down when pressured. glad it all worked out for you though

When I had my tranny rebuilt at 98, 000 miles, they let me know that all of my motor and transmission mounts were shot. I saw one of them and it was torn pretty bad. One of the techs said that the mounts on this engine/FWD set up went bad often.

The labor they quoted you seems pretty high....I know it's involved, though.

Mine goes in on Friday (private garage) to have the lower control arms/ball joints looked at and likely replaced. Mine is lowered and stiffened up completely in the suspension. 131,000 miles doesn't seem too bad for these components, considering I do enjoy a rapid velocity corner approach and exit.

Blessings!

In fact, motor mounts often have problems in FWD setups. My Cruiser will be my last FWD vehicle. Too much complexity and expense in fixing FWD vehicles.

I pulled one of my motor mounts over the weekend (the lower one on the right side) only took me 15 minutes to get it off. Then i used 3M window weld to fill in the open spaces of the mount. That stuff is nasty what a mess but way cheaper than changing the bushing out. Works pretty good, the motor doesnt move around and it tamed the axle hop on launch.
Now i've only got 2 more to go but they're a touch harder to get at.

Sounds like a muffler bearing is the connection! Maybe, low blinker fluid.
