Thumbs up March PT Cruiser Sales up 27% Over 2003

Just found this info at: http://www.daimlerchrysler.com

"Chrysler PT Cruiser set a new sales record by increasing 27 percent to 14,080 units compared to March 2003 sales of 11,054 units."

This will serve to refute reports of the PT Cruiser not selling, and just piling up in dealer lot inventories.

Although current Chrysler incentives are boosting sales, it is also evident the "Recommendation" by Consumer Reports, in 2003 and just recently, again, in 2004, boost the sales figures as well. If you look at the sales figures for vehicles not recommended by Consumer Reports, it is evident the sales figures rely on the Recommendations.

BRAVO !!!

Wonder if the introduction of the convertible had anything to do with that...

That's great news. Now if they'll only leave the styling alone.

Think so....so far theproduction numbers are as follow

PT sedan: Mar: 7,277; YTD: 22,735

PT 'Vert: Mar: 4,859; YTD: 11,079

So they are building alot of convertibles - more so in March- so the demand (orders) for them must be high. However, overall Chrysler so far is building less PTs compared to last year: 40,947 were built YTD for 2003. That's another way of dealing with those "stories" of huge inventories on dealer's lots!

Still, those are encouraging numbers!

Those discounts and March Madness incentives didn't hurt sales any, either.

That and here locally, two Chrysler dealerships were battling it out on which would be the top PT dealer in So Cal. There are lots of new '04 base models cruising the 91, 10 and I215 highways lately. I've seen a ton of the new plum and graphite metallic.

I was in Fargo yesterday & drove through my dealers lot & was shocked to see only 6 new Cruisers & 3 of those were sold. Only one or two used, usually they have a selection of about 20 new & a few used. My hometown dealer has 3 new & 1 used, thats alot for them.

Good news for the "mods" dealers.
