Default Free brake job

I haven't posted in a long time but I do get alot of useful info here. I figured I would share my latest experience with my 01 PT with you. For about a year now the car has been pulling to the right. My dealer originally told me it was the crown in the road. RIGHT! I had a front end alignment done which accomplished nothing. I had another dealer tell me it was my tires. NOPE! I saw a few posts here about the front control arm bushings falling out so I went to my dealer and said "look, I have tried everything to get my car to stop pulling to the right. Can you check the control arm bushings?" They looked at the car and determined I needed new pads, calipers, and rotors because the right front brake was stuck. The right side pad was approx. 80% worn and the left about 20%. ( I have 22,000 miles on the car) All covered under my extended warranty. Well low and behold that didn't stop the pulling. I brought it back monday and had the control arms replaced because the bushings were falling out. Thank You fellow PT Drivers

yeah same thing happened to me. the caliper pin boot tore, let water in and seised the floating pin. i noticed that my car was slowing while going downhill. the rotors warped really bad. then i cut the rotors, pulled the pin, reamed out the hole and regreased it only to have the grease fly out because i couldnt just get the boot and pin kit could only get the whole caliper. anyway ended up getting this

too bad this one wasnt free

Maybe next time, RallyDRock, you'll take it to a mechanic.

Exclamation Re: Free brake job

Had that happen to me a loooooong time ago too! My driver side caliper siezed up , or was starting to. When I took the car in to get it lowered they mentioned that my driver side pad was nearly gone & the passenger side was 1/2 or better. Mentioned I might want to go to the dealer & complain. Well, being lazy I waited till my next oil change
(about 1 week). In that short amount of time I managed to get both sides down to bare metal. I went to the dealership with the paper from the lowering guy stating my brake pads were wearling unevenly. No dice! They said, they both wore fine, you drove them down to metal is all! So, I had it towed to ANOTHER dealership & heard the same story...
So, I had it towed to the place that lowered the car & they did the brakes for 1/2 price of what the dealer was asking ( back then it took 2 weeks to get the pads special ordered , I was "the first person they'd seen" have this problem...well, maybe because I was ,like, the second person in the area to have a PT delivered??!! ).
Anyway, I had the brakes done with MOPAR pads & in 8,000 miles I was back in the same boat. THIS TIME, I didn't procrastinate. I took it down ASAP.
The drivers side caliper & rotor were replaced , as well as pads on both wheels up front-under factory warranty this time- because the caliper was faulty.
No problems since {{knock on wood}}.
Glad YOU finally got yours squared away, what a run-around!

It wouldn't have--you could have critiqued their work and then re-accomplished it. I'm sure they would have appreciated that.

oh you mean like the shop that did my ball joints last week?
put so much damn grease in there that they busted the boots and got grease all over my brakes, wheel wells, and inside the wheel

and i told them before they did the job that the seals are not vented, WTF. they WILL be replacing the seals for free, if I can ever get over there before they close (damn job)

I'm sick of this crap, every time I take my car to a shop something gets screwed up. My ford van was put on a lift (dealer!?) by the body welds and not the frame (crunch), brand new wheel ruined by a curb (oh we didnt do that), pt got dented when it went in for an inspection, i need to stop before i bust a blood vessel, this is so annoying
