Default Minor cosmetic problem..any advice?

Hi all.

Myself and my wife just completed a successful used vehicle search to replace our dying 91 Dodge Caravan.Unfortunantely, couldn't stay with Ma MOPAR and get a newer used Caravan.None of the local dealers who had used Caravans or Town and Countrys on lot wanted to play ball. They were all asking 3000 grand average higher than Blue Book and wouldn't drop more than 500-700 bucks EVEN though we were paying cash!In the end,our local Chevy dealer did us a heck of a deal on a fully loaded 5 year old Pontiac Montana.Realatively low mileage. We are getting it off lot Monday after they repair items I found for 8700,tax and titleing fees included.

ANYHOW...your probably asking how does this relate to PT Cruisers?Good question. For the past 1 1/2 years,my 2001 PT has been my wife's primary vehicle. And God bless her soul....to her,a car is a car.She has treated it as such....mainly the interior is trashed. She informed me during our search, that if we successfully came in 1500 below what our maximum amount we were willing to pay on the newer used Minivan was....part of that "savings" would be used for a professional detailing job inside and out on the 2001 PT.

I was performing a "walk around" of the PT yesterday, after completing the sales/buying transaction, and upon returning home.Looking for minor things that need taken care of...a little white paint that needs buffed off the passenger rear door, that sort of thing.I noticed,to my dismay, that the passenger side fog lamp has condensation inside the lense. Is anyone here familiar with the fog lamp assembly?I didn't look close enough yet to see if perhaps a rock has cracked the lense....but if not,do the fog lamps have a seal or gasket between the reflector and lense. If so,can it be taken apart and repaired....or does the whole lap assembly have to be replaced?

Hi red- unfortunately, the FOG LAMP is one piece and the lense cannot be seperated. At least, that is my finding when I had them out to paint the bumper cover. There IS a chance that you could split the seam of butyl (probably) so get at the guts and dry it out, but I would think that its only a temp solution as the problem has not been fixed.

Maybe take the whole thing OUT, remove the bulb, and leave it in the house a few days. See if it doesn't clear itself.

Sorry

Thanks anyhow Sean.I'll just mess around and see what I can do.If worst comes to worst.....I'll just stash a little extra cash here and there and when it goes in for it's next servicing,I'll have the lamp replaced.

keep an eye on ebay too always an item here and there, honestly i think youd be better off replacing the thing rather than mess with it.
