Default Oil additives worth it or not???

I use fuel treatment faithfully.. i was wondering if oil additives such as Duralube or Zmax are worth it? What other brands would you recommend?
Thanks David

I would think they would help older engines, but am not sure about a new one. I know someone here will have that answer for you.

My $.02. Use synthetic (Mobil 1, Castrol Syntec, etc) and change it regularly. Spend for the oil and save on oil additives. The synthetics HAVE the additives.

i Would agree with you, but I have free oil changes from Chrysler for 5 years they use regular 10W30. So additives are the way to go for me.

I got free oil changes on wife's Town&Country (but not on my PT from same dealer??). I bring them a 5-quart jug of Mobil1 for the change. (and hope they use it... )

I really don't know if they are worth it or not either. I use Mobil 1 and started using RESTORE a few changes back. It's supposed to help compression in higher mileage engines (I have 127,000 on my PT). I never noticed any compression problems before and I don't now....so, I don't know. I suppose that as long as they have it on the shelf at Wal-Mart (if I bring my own oil, they change it for $10.00), I'll throw a can in with each oil change.

That is, until someone here convinces me that there is a better way. I do tend to get most of my answers, and even some new questions, on this site.

Blessings to all!

Check the owner's manual- even here in Canada, I think it lists the recommended oil to be 5W-30!!!

(no charge. )

I dont use additives but i do use mobil 1 10-30, never use 5-30 in temps of 100 plus, oil gets to thin, like water...what i lose in milage is negligable....

I've been using castrol syntec 5w30 and k&n oil filters for the time I've owned my cruiser and haven't had any problems, good stuff!
