Default DC 3 Pricing

Talking to a dealer about an 04 DC 3-with the manual gretag transmission (rare car with rarer transmission -seems hard to find DC3's with manual transmissions). His best price so far (before rebate) is $28115. "Invoice" is $27,428 and MSRP is $29,495.

Anyone seen a dealer do better-here in California?

Thanks,

Carmax in Norcross, Ga still has a 5-spd Dreamer for $23089 (rebate included).
The net price from your dealer would be $25615 ($28115 less $2500 rebate) which is $2526 higher than Carmax.
Wonder what it would cost to have it shipped from Ga to Ca?

Your dealer is trying to stiff you. As Tomcat indicated, check with Carmax and other car sellers. Good luck.

That's the same price I saw last week at a local dealership (down in Riverside, CA), but for an Automatic. Don't think they had any DC3's with a manual tranny.

Too bad I couldn't get "stiffed" like that on a new convertible!
Technically getting $1300 off MSRP, particularly on a harder to find 5-speed GT ain't that bad.....

Thanks for the Carmax info but tryig to bring a "new" car into California from another State is a massive headache for smog pruposes. Thus I'm stuck looking for California only cars--and California Dream Cruiser 3's with MANUAAL transmisions seem rare--but I'll put the Carmax data to use in pricing...maybe a bluff will work!

Thumbs up Re: DC 3 Pricing

The Dream Cruiser Series III qualifies for the current $ 2,500.00 DaimlerChrysler rebate. Additionally, a dealer discount of another
$ 2,000.00 is reasonable.

This would then be, the MSRP of around $ 29,400.00, less the
above two discounts, for a net price of $ 24,900.00.

Dealers in the New York Hudson Valley are currently discounting
all PT Cruisers a minimum of $ 4,000.00, including the $ 2,500.00
rebate - - with the base PT Cruiser advertised under $ 13,000.00.

I forgot about the "smog situation". But at least you have a bargaining tool. Good luck!

David, hope this link works.
http://www.carmax.com/dyn/factsheet/factsheet.asp
Carmax in Atlanta has one for $23,089 with manual. Print out and deal. Don't let those crooks have a penny more than someone else sells it for. I guess you have some amount to add for Cal. emissions stuff.

Thanks-checked the link and the car is listed as not found-no longer available. Anyway I went to the carmax site and did a west coast search-limited to LAX (los angeles). No Dream 3's but the prices are shockingly low--I don't get it. Found a red GT-04. After rebate price of 19,990. List is over 26 thou. Take away the rebate and they are still selling for almost 4 thousand under retail. I ran kelly blue book on 'invoice' and their price is almost 1500 under invoice (ignoring rebate reduction)--now I know dealers get a thing called holdback and thus can still make a $750-1000 profit even selling at invoice but geezzz these prices seem even well below that level...what kind of a deal does Carmax have with Chrysler??????

has anyone tired to a trade in with them--if their new car prices are that far below retail, how low must they go on buying used cars???
