Even when completely full, the guage registers at around 7/8 of a tank.
Is there a way of recalibrating the sending unit or does it need to be replaced? Minor inconvenience, since my recorded mileage is the same using the odometer and filling method.
I have also had 3 occurances of the headlights not coming on when turned on. The brights work fine, the flood/driving lights work fine too. I have tried playing with the switch with no success. Then, inexplicably, the headlights come on and work fine. This only seems to occur when I leave it outside overnight....not a strong correlation, I admit, but I cannot find any other reason for this occurance.
At 126,000 miles, I am on my own and do the dealer thing only as a last resort. Tomorrow my PT goes in to a local garage for replacement of the timing belt, radiator hoses and belt.
Any ideas will be appreciated!

Hello Padre, I had both of those issues with my PT as well. The fuel gauge problem was a faulty sending unit that was replaced by the dealer under warranty. The headlight problem was caused by a malfunctioning multi function switch/stalk that I replaced myself. The car was no longer under warranty. The stalk/switch unit cost around $60.00 and it was a breeze to replace. Good luck.
