Hi all,
Thanks for the comments so far regarding new PT ownership and the issue of fitting a bike in the back. New question: Is there a way to remove the headrests from the rear seat(s)? I never have people ride in the back and the headrests obstruct my rearview a little. I am leasing the car, so I have to return it in the same condition. Is there a *non-destructive* way to pull those headrests? I tried pushing the locking button on the side of one of the headrest posts, but the headrest only comes up a few inches and won't come out entirely. Thanks in advance. -Dex |

I second that. I removed the back seats a long time ago, put in a wood floor, and I've cruised cool ever since in my two-seater Cruiser.

It's easier to do if you have help, you need someone to pull up on the headrest while you push in on the locks, it is also easier to release the seat back and pull it forward, because you need to pull strait up on the headrest and this gives you more room to work! I nkow I have had mine out to recover them!

there is the regular button on one side for raising and lowering of the headrest and a second button on the other side for headrest removal.
i agree that removing the rear seats completely is the way to go if you can.

They are easy to remove, just push the button, pull up, push in the smaller button and pull off. The seats are easy to remove and you DO get better gas mileage with them out of there. You might need a tny bit of help removing the larger seat-it can be really heavy and bulky. I scraped my rear door sill with one of the wheels last time I put them back in.

Hi All,
Thanks for the suggestions. You all know far more than the salesman I spoke to! I'm glad I can remove the headrests, but I'll have to leave the seats. I have an Australian Shepherd who demands a comfortable seat with a good view. Thank you all for your contributions. I should be getting my first PT this week! (Yes, it will be black...) I feel like a kid on X-mas/Channuka... Once I become versed in PT's, I will do my utmost to give back to these forums. Have a good one! -Dex --------------------- "Life Rewards Action" |
