Question Bike...in PT...without shoehorn?

Greetings all,

I just test-drove a PT Limited Edition today for the first time. I am nearly sold, but have a few questions:

1) Can an average-sized mountain bike be placed inside? Do you need to lay down every seat but the driver's? (Anyone here tried this?)

2) With gas prices on the rise, I'm a little concerned about the mileage. Any tips/tricks to increase it? (I'm looking at getting the automatic transition.)

Also, I've been driving a Toyota RAV4 for the last 3 years and getting back closer to street level felt a little odd. Does this feeling go away quickly?

I guess I'm looking for any input on your transition to PT owner. What to look out for, advice for a PT Newbie etc. Thanks in advance!

-Dex

if you remove the rear seats you should have plenty of room for your bike

of course there always ae with any car, you'll have to look around and do the mods that suit you best. the MPG isnt all that bad in this car though.

Hi

You mountain bike, I don't know never tried it... I know on some mountain bikes the front tire comes off, if yours does that would make it easier to get the bike in..

The gas milage will get better after you brake it in. And a K&N Air Filter and removing a spacer in the air-box can give you just a bit more. And just don't floor it everytime you hit the gas. Keep tabs on the air-pressure in your tires, I have found the PT stock tires to be a little more sensitive to changes than other tucks I had before it..

I came down from a 2-wheel drive Ford Ranger pick-up and the feel of the PT is higher than a normal car, and you get used to it quick. Then the truck will feel weird.

Hope this helps and I if you pick the PT don't be a stranger

I put my road bike inthe back with no problem. Instructions:Fold rear seats only, remove front wheel, insert bike.

Bike? That's why I bought the Cruiser, didn't want to pedal. YOu gas milage will improve, but it will never be great. You'll quickly adjust to the close to the road feeling.

Welcome to PTE. This is the best place to be for Cruiser buffs.

I've had my mountain bike in the back, but it is a little bit of a pain. Much easier now that I have a hitch with a bike rack.

My mileage has actually gone into the toilet since I bought it 2 years ago. I had been getting about 300 miles to a tank of gas. Now, I'm lucky if I get 260 miles. Sometimes it is as low as 200. I'm considering moving within the next year (50 miles one-way away from work), and would probably trade the cruiser the mileage is now so bad.

Unfortunately, the front wheel of my bike is NOT removeable.

Of course you can haul a bike!! I made a custom bike rack for my PT. I t has a cross member that straps into the rear seat clips and has a front wheel clamp screwed to it. I took my bike with me on a 3000 mile trek to Boston last year. I'll try to get pics up tonight.

Yup, that's the ticket. Bike rack that can also serve as a luggage rack in a pinch and is removeable as well.

Hi Dex, if your front wheel doesnt have a quick release, you will need to fold the passenger seat as well.
Gas mileage is ok, but not great. I get around 22 MPG average with 55K on the clock, 5 speed.
Hope this helps.
