I put my mountain bike and beach cruiser on top, the road bike is the only one allowed inside.

I have the bike rack from mopar. It's really quite nice. It's fits into the hidden hitch. The rack even folds down.

So I've never hauled a bike on the interior. I should think if you fold down the rear seats and place the bike's back wheels in the lowest point, and then turn the front wheel so it lays on top of the folded down seats, you'll be set.

Get a 5 spd. I did the K&N filter and removed the little white restrictor in the air box. I get 25 to 27 mpg. and I love to romp on it in 2nd and 3rd gear! If I had a turbo it'd be the death of me!

I put my son's bike in the cruiser on the way back from Oklahoma at Chrismast a couple of years back. Not only did the bike fit (with all pieces together), but I also hauled back (in the boxes) a computer, monitor, printer/scanner/copier/fax, and some dishes, and our luggage and 2 dogs. Not to mention the cooler and Gus and me. It can be done and fairly easily. Fold the rear seats, put the table in the middle position, lay the bike down inside, and turn the front wheel so it goes between the front and rear seat space (easiest if you remove the headrests on the rear seats) .

I've loaded both my mountain bike and road bike (not at the same time however) into my PT, and I only had to fold down the two back seats. The trick is to get the front wheel of the bike to tuck in between the back of the front seats and the folded down rear seats. Of course it is much better to use a trailer hitch mounted bike carrier, which I use most of the time.

1) Can an average-sized mountain bike be placed inside? Do you need to lay down every seat but the driver's? (Anyone here tried this?)

2) With gas prices on the rise, I'm a little concerned about the mileage. Any tips/tricks to increase it? (I'm looking at getting the automatic transition.)

Also, I've been driving a Toyota RAV4 for the last 3 years and getting back closer to street level felt a little odd. Does this feeling go away quickly?

I guess I'm looking for any input on your transition to PT owner. What to look out for, advice for a PT Newbie etc. Thanks in advance!

Well, the bike might fit. But what about the shoehorn?
