Default A Nice write-up on the 2005 PT Convertible

A nice little write up on the Convertible. This writer actually Drove the Convert.
for those of you who think that Convertibles are noisy when the roof is up...think agai

The writer goes on to write the Convert's good points and then he writes this:

But what is most striking about the PT Cruiser convertible is how quiet the cabin is with the top up. It's extraordinary. I don't know whether it is the result of the three-layer top (outer fabric, insulating pad, cloth headliner), the overall reduction in structural NVH, the extensive use of weather stripping, thicker side glass, or, more likely, a combination of these, it is hard to believe that it is a ragtop—or even a vehicle in this segment. (Quiet as the inside of a vault?)

Nice article, they say the 50/50 rear seats tumble forward or fold flat but don't say they are removeable. Has anyone heard different? And how much longer are the doors? Can't wait for a test drive!

I think they might be....the printout from "build your own" says "50/50 fold and tumble" rear seat. Seems like if you can tumble them forward you should be able to remove them too? In addition to the seats being 50/50 versus 60/40 in the sedan, its obvious from the photos that the top of the seat stays put, and only the heart of the sit folds down. Notice there in no seam in the top of the rear seat!

I saw it on Saturday at the Chicago Auto Show. It is a sweet ride!! The rear seats are not removable. The one thing that Im dissapointed at is the front passanger seat. It does not fold flat. The rear doors are probably a foot longer than normal PT doors. They also have a built in red light for when The back seat is VERY comfortable. I was quite surprised by it!!

I'd love the bigger doors but the back seats not easily removable and replacable is an issue for a dog hauler. Still looking forward to a test drive though.

Hey, let the dog sit up front. They love them cool breezes.

Looks like the PT Ragtop was built right. Now, if the word can just get around, some sales will result.

There was a similar write-up in the London Free Press a couple weeks ago by one of the journalists who has attended all three Cruise-The-Falls events. In addition to what was covered in this article, he mentioned that when you unlock the doors with the key fob, the windows automatically lower about an inch. After you get in the car and close the doors, they go back up ensuring a tight seal against the roof. Neat idea but could prove problematic for those northerners forced to drive their PT Convertible in the winter.

That's a great article, Sean. Thanks for the link.
