If it is,.... it's only within Mopar.
The 41TE is soooo popular for them that the price for a crate tranny from Mopar is lower than ANY aftermarket rebuilder.
That means that any shop that installs one will buy it from mother Mopar.
There has not been an upgrade engineered in the aftermarket to beef up the 41TE.

I'll tell you one thing...if those folks with the 4-speed auto tranny could upgrade to the type of 5-speed tranny I have in my Ram HEMI, they'd be mighty happy. Too bad the cost of Mopar doing that would be cost prohibitive.

Thumbs up Re: Just took my PT in for 15Km Oil change & a few complaints

The Silver Eagle runs fine on Regular unleaded.Since I found out why it got such bad mileage.

Finally had to get my dad involved, don't like doing this...LOL
He is a retiree from Windsor Chrysler Head Office. So I phoned him and told him what went on re: code 706.
His reply was, and after phoning his buddy 'the majority of dealers will crack open tranny's when in actual fact there was no need to do so.
So Chrysler accumulate all this warranty work data and says hmm we have a problem in our tranny;'s. This is due to overzelous technicians who replace things when not needed and don't care because it's warranty work. So Chrysler in turn throws it back to engineering and they scratch their heads.
What in fact has happened in my case is procedure.
Reprogram (download) first.
If it continues, retest for codes.
Thought I would share this with everyone.

This may have absolutley nothing to do with your problem..the 2,000rpm-thing reminds me of a similar problem I faced with mine..although it's a five-speed. At 15K miles it, too, did the same..rough idle, stumbling at 2,000 rpm. I replaced the plugs..it went away..it started doing it again, only more severe at 53K..changed the plugs and the ignition wires together this time, and again, it solved the problem..runs like a top now. I feel for everyone whose had trouble with their auto trannys..it's too bad that Chrysler has to put people thru that. An auto tranny should perform flawlessly for many, many 1,000's of miles.

Agree. A Dodge Challenger my middle sister owned stayed in our family for 30 years with over 250,000 miles on the original 383 engine and the Torqueflight tranny. My idiot oldest nephew sold it for peanuts to a buddy and that kid swapped the engine but kept the tranny. His little sister is driving it now.
