He didnt seem particluarly negative. Whats t he flap????????

I read more negative in the PT posts against Leno!!!!

WIERD!

Frankly I tell folks the PT is a non car. Its whatever U want it to be.
U can kustomize it, rod it, just drive it, go kamping with it, or paint it with gumdrops. People still love it. Try THAT with your Taurus.

So what if he didn't like it.

I get just a hint of snobbery from Mr. Leno. If you can't afford $100K collector cars, your'e not on his radar screen. His Stanley Steamer is neat, but you can't drive it to work everyday. I can only afford one car, it's my daily driver, a necessity, and my toy. He's rich enough to be able to indulge himself, I'm not. I don't begrudge him his money, I just don't like his attitude.

Well, I don't think it's snobbery. I have friends who admire the PT Cruiser's looks but have told me if they want a classic car, they'll get one, not a modern rendition of one. It's an attitude lots of classic car fans share. I also think if the PT had a more powerful mill under the hood, Leno would find it more to his taste.

Thumbs up Re: Jay Leno talks about the PT Cruiser

There's no doubt that Jay is a gear/motor head. I'd love to have
the keys to his large garage. He has more 2 & 4 wheeled toys
then all of us put together! It must be tough to choose between
driving a classic car or a new Ferrari. Personally I'm glad that not
everyone is crazy about PT's. It keeps (some) of the Riff-Raff out.

I think he's right about a stick shift...but look at all the 'street rods' that have auto transmissions. Disgusting! & a lot of them are phony plastic replicas anyway. How many times have we said (before the PT came out) I wish to hell they'd design a car like they used to. Well they did, & we bought 'em. We like 'em & to hell with those that don't.

Well, if it had a HEMI or equvalent and a Torqueflight auto tranny, it wasn't disgusting at all, methinks. And you may not like "Tupperware" rods, but lots of folks do.

Had a hemi/torqueflight ('57 New Yorker 2dr ht) & wished it had had a stick. I don't like the music of Lawrence Welk, but lots of folks do. I don't like bland salsa, but lots of folks do. What lots of folks may or may not like has nothing to do with quality. A plastic 34 Ford with 350/350 is like an enchalada with ketsup...may look ok (if you don't get too close), but compared to the real thing it's like that vw with the RR grill.
