The IRS can. You may be under the window (I think it's $10,000 value or more), but it's something to keep in mind.

My Cruiser slipped thought the cracks it used to look fairly stock from the exterior however I spent a small fortune on the electronics. which brings up the question my mega powered amps were hidden under the passenger seat. At the time I didn't want to have stuff visible to thiefs, in my case it didn't help.

According to most classification methods by PT was wild but had a stock appearence from the exterior. Next year the entire Cruiser will be modified from the ground up. I have grown tired of Politics may stay away from PT events and opt for the car show circuit instead. This bothers me because I really have enjoyed Cruising the states and Canada for PT events. Life is too short I just want to Cruise and meet my friends and have fun.

Sorry I just had to vent its been bothering me, Canadians just get hosed on mods if you buy them in Canada. i.e. a local speed shop sells the good hood PT-1 for $1598. without paint mean while Race and Street sells the same part for $510. By the time I'm finished with my current mods I could have easily bought another Cruiser
Street Glow Gold Series kit is $300 here and its very easy to spent your way into the wild Class without even trying. A point system maybe a better. It worked very well at St. Louis and at a Port Stanley

At Clarion, we found it very struggling to try to list 3 different cars in each of about 15 trophy categories. QUOTE]

I am sorry that you found it to be very struggling to vote for 3 cars in each of 12 categories.
Ff you had let CARSEN help you, it might have been easier.

The Clarion Show allowed only ONE trophy per car. One car won or placed second in SEVEN categories. If there had been only one vote per car in each category, there would have been no way for us to determine the winners in the "lovwer" categories. In some casees we awarded the trophies to the 5th and 6th place cars.

We will continue to require two or three votes in each class at our shows. In addition to the benefit of being able to pick first and second place winners in each category, we believe tjat this method reduces the effects of "bloc" voting because you can't vote for just one car.

I've been doing a lot of research lately on car shows. One thing that I have noticed is that many organizations allow up to three "current" modificarions (some limit them to OEM) for vehicles in the "stock class." These modifications are items that were available during the model year the vehicle was sold. Most organizations that do this don't allow "major" modifications that change the overall look of the vehicle. Items like license plate frames, dice, etc. are not normally counted as modifications either. They are not considered as actual modifications to the vehicle. If you're going to have a Concours dElegance show or class, then I'd say that the research agrees with your "stock is stock" ideal. Somehow, since PT Cruisers are so new, I don't think we need to worry about that yet. Most "stock" PT Cruisers are daily drivers and I don't think they would stand up well in a Concours dElegance show or class. The judges would get their white gloves very dirty.

As for Dream Cruisers, GTs and "Base Models" being in the same "stock" class, that is what stock means. If the PT Cruisers in a stock class are just judged on how well they look, which is the normal way of judging for this class, then it shouldn't make a difference.

GOLDMEMBER, I understand your frustration of being placed in a Wild Class just because of your electronics. Unfortunately some of us face the opposite problem. We don't get considered for an award partly because we don't have big bucks sunk into a sound and video system. That's one place where I agree with PT-MD. Don't count the sound system when classifying a PT Cruiser and I'll add that we shouldn't consider it in judging the vehicle. It's the Cruiser that should be judged, not all the electronics. They can be judged separatly from the Cruiser in an Electronics Class.

Good point. I have an el-cheapo sound system and the base steel rims (albeit covered by cool Mooneyes discs) and I've been told several times that those tend to knock the PT Rod down in the eyes of some folks. So it cuts both ways.

I have judged at 2 cruisers shows. Since the people in this forum seem to talk alot about stock class and unlimited class can someone please tell me how u even begin to judge a stock car.Lets all remember this is not a 69 ss chevelle or even a collectable car. I can see how judgeing the mild ,wild and radical class would be done on mods which is not equal to stock class . I would really like to know from someone who has judged stock class what u look for ,your favorite color ,your friend, a cleaner car ?Now here is another instering point does that mean if u are counting dollar amounts should the stock class get a 12" trophy and the unlimited class get a 48" trophy. From the sounds of a lot of these post people feel the radical class should be somehow penalized. The people who spend money on their cars should be rewarded thats how this craze all started .Maybe we should try one car show as I feel all other cars shows are done . There are classes like special insterest or modifided . As for people who dont think we should consider sound systems, then why should we consider your bolt on borla exhaust that u can only see some chrome tips . A installed done up stereo is much more of a permanent mod than a cat back exhaust or snap on chrome modesty cover. Sean how about a sound off like at import shows, contact a major mfg and have them have a display and some of their demo cars , maybe a clinic on how to install or upgrade a product then a DB competion. I have seen this at local shows and the crowd loves it that would be the only way not to include stereo's in judgeing. Give them their own class just like the neon show. I cant believe some of the post that dont want to include stereo but mention stock class whats up with that. By the way my stereo is stock I'am just stickin up for what I feel is a major upgrade . I just got the latest copy of Cruiser Quartlerly and the only stock cruiser pics are DC adds. Even the wrecked GT reappears with flames and trinkets. Thats whats its all about the adds the stories and whats hot. Now how about this and I dont want to piss fellow PT people off but how about no judgin of stock class this would save time and let the judges spend more time on cars that are custom . All cars that arent judged get a show appreaction award dash plaque or maybe a special diecast or whatever I dont mean to leave them out they deserve a award also . They still park anywhere they want and get to party just as everybody else does , also they get a special something that no one else gets for not being judged. Since their cars are stock they are trully the ones that are there for the party!!!!!!!

Although I agree with the philosophy that one car shouldn't be able to take most of the trophies, this hardly seems fair either. I think we're going to try to use outside judges at CRC this year to try to avoid this.

CRUISERMANIA
TROPHY CLASSES

Stock Class=$500 or less in modifications
Mild Class=$501-$5000 in modifications
Wild Class=$5001-$10000 in modifications

.
Holy Cow! In this system I'd be in the "wild" class!
The cars *I* consider "wild" would blow my car away & I'd never have any hope of seeing a prize ( not that I go to any shows & compete)...but there's a heck of a lot of difference between $6K in mods & $80+K in mods... Too bad there can't be a class to get those who really have "big-time" BIG buck mods out on their own. Just so those who have done a LOT, but not THAT much still have a hope.
I didn't read through the 4 pages of previous replies , so maybe someone has already mentioned this.
