PT Chix, if you read the posts carefully, you would have noticed that they stated retail value of the mods. You have already answered your own question. Your mods are worth more than $80,000 no matter what you spent out-of-pocket. Besides, I like Steve's idea for all shows. The "trailor queens" can be in their own class.

BTW--I sure hope that the IRS doesn't see your post. All of those "gifts" are taxable.

I only have 2 things to say.

I think the award/prize system should be scrapped as it is completely unworkable, leads to biased voting, and fosters a "more is better" attitude as those are the people who win the awards.

And if you are stubborn to keep trying to classify cars, then just try to remember one little teensy detail, Stock means Stock - NO Mods If you do mods, it's NOT stock.

Where is it ???

Sharm aka dreamwerxx, everywhere, except where I am not !!!
Tons of cruise pics in both hi-res (2160x1440) or lo-res for dialups (800x533)

A few minor mods & the obligatory fuzzy dice.

I need a lot of cash to really do what I want.

This was one of the points that I was going to make. If a Cruiser with just a paint job, not even a wild paint job with graphics and such, just a single color paint job, spent more than $2000, they would be in the "Super Mod" category with Cruisers that have a lot more visually impacting mods. I don't think this method is fair to all the participants.

Believe it. There was at least one Cruiser at CRC2, and I believe he was also at Clarion, that had just a paint job, besides other very minor mods.

Since you're looking for opinions.....
I also think this is a little extreme. At Clarion, we found it very struggling to try to list 3 different cars in each of about 15 trophy categories. I would have rather spent a lot less time trying to find Cruisers to vote on and more time to just walk around and talk to people. We finally just gave up and turned in our ballot with empty spaces. How about voting for one car in each category and awarding the top 3 vote getters?

As soon as I complete my proposed list of points, I will post it for opinions.

But you own the car, Chix, and thus you own the mods. Might want to check this point out with a tax attorney. BTW, you've certainly done better with sponsors than anyone I've ever heard of. Even some pro detailers I know of haven't gotten anywhere close to $80,000 in donated aftermarket stuff from sponsors.

I think your 10,000 limit is a load of crap. I bet I drive my car more miles than u per year. Unless u actually trailor the car it should not be thought of that way! Its your show so do as u want .Ibuilt my motor and did turbo to drive the car not park it . It would be a pretty boring show if some of those way cool cars with tons of moula in them didnt come. Sounds like from your post u dont have money to put into your car dont penalize me because I do. This is gettin crazy and when I think about it I go to car shows to see cars that are custom .If I want to see cars that are stock I can go to my dealer. I think its startin to sound better to just have a meet and greet scew the trophies. Lets see 500.00 or less tinted front windows 100.00 ,fart can muffle installed 150.00 ,cool floor mats 50.00, cool shoft knob 30.00 ,chrome look wipers 30.00 and lets not forget the very custom poweraid 110.00 add in fuzzy dice and u are at 500.00 now really how custom is that dont get me wrong I feel these people take as much pride as I do in my car . Ijust think trophies should be given out for the best cars not buy dollar amount. I have never been to any other car shows that go by dollar amount its a joke !

Will the PT with the more expensive wheels have to go in a different class? To me..it's the same mod..no matter how much was spent on it, and should be considered a "mild" mod because of it.

Good point and great rebuttle to the dollars-spent debate, BUT, what would you propose to differentiate between the catergories that you listed above? (Stock, Mild, Wild)

The THIRD PARTY judges method defeats this.

Granted- our THIRD PARTY judges seemed to recognize the "more is better" .

Perhaps telling the third party judges to pick 10 that they like, and 5 that are "less modded", or something like that.

Question- Dream Cruiser 2 (or 3, or 1)- UNTOUCHED- is that still considered STOCK, whereas a BASE PT would have to "mod" theirs with spoiler, rims, painted bumpers, ... to take it to what is a stock dreamer configuration? That is one main issue that has not been addressed- except for Marv bumping them up.

Thoughts?

Points:
Too hard to administer – you would have to classify EVERY possible mod and award “points”. How would you differentiate between a $1500 flame job and a $5000 one if you assigned “points”?
Classify EVERY mod- not going to happen. I'd stick to the high visibility items- rims, lowering, spoiler, grills, hoods, flames/paint. Points for dice, neons, shifter knob, Xenon hedlamps, ... too much, too confusing.

$1500/$5000 flames- same question with a BASE PT and a GT PT- same STOCK vehicle, one is about $3000 more than the other, but are BOTH in the stock class although both are different base prices.

Quote:

Regarding POINTS – It is not possible to create a COMPLETE LIST of points for every modification that is known, and/or has yet to be invented
Not going to happen. I thinks its prudent to hit the big items (listed above) and kepe the penny mods/dual exhaust/.. off the point list.
