Default Trip meter mileage disappeared

Went to check mileage today on the trip meter and it read 0.01. Should have been 150 plus miles. Have no idea how the miles got erased. I had just stopped to buy dinner (it was my night to cook) and when I got back in the car, I pressed the button. I know I didn't erase it myself cause I only pressed the button once and didn't hold it in like usual to reset mileage. Anyone know why the trip meter would have reset itself? Really weird.

Happened to me a few times, this was posted a while ago, the general conclusion was static electricity.

I had it happen to me once, I wrote it off to holding the button down a fraction too long. The static electricity explanation makes a lot more sense.

.... Could be ALIENS....

If not, then it's probably Clinton's fault. This one seems to be real popular for just about ANY problem nowadays....

You sure you didn't take the scenic route and roll the trip counter over?

Unhappy Re: Trip meter mileage disappeared

Happened to us a number of times. Chrysler replaced the instrument cluster once back in April and blamed the problem on static electricity. It has happened since the replacement, once about a week after and again in July at a Meet & Greet with both the temperature and humidity in the 80s. So much for the static electricity idea. Now that our weather is turning colder, I expect the problem to return. I notified the dealer after the last two "resets" and he has not heard anything back from Chrysler. The dealer said Chrysler may want to send someone out to look at the PT, so I'll wait and see what happens as the weather turns colder and drier.

This is the first time it has happened to my PT. The day it happened, it was just starting to rain so there may have been static in the air from the storm. Has not happened since.
