Thanks for the welcomes and the information.

I agree the ignition switch and key tumbler should be a covered item and it was covered for my PT under he warranty. However, DC said it was not covered under my DC extended warranty on my wife's car and I have started the appeal process with DC.

DC's explanation to me was that the ignition switch is covered as a "manually operated electrical switch," but the key tumber is not. A bunch of DC BS. I sent them copies of the owner's manual which refers 10 times to the ignition switch with pictures of the "key tumbler" designated the switch.

I think this latest event with the PT demonstrates that the T&C's lock tumbler should also be covered. Of course, breaking down in Redlands, California would not be my first choice as to proving to DC what is, or what isn't, covered.

Oh! My '54 New Yorker Deluxe still has it's original ignition switch, including lock tumbler.

My 2002 doesn't have a button by the ignition...... maybe they changed the design?

I have a late 2001. I don't have one either.

Lightbulb

I think the button they mention is only on the stick shift. It serves as a key release.
