Default removing plastic Air Dam?

Is there any problems with removing the plastic Air Dam that runs across the bottom of front fascia?

My has gotten pretty bungled up, it needs to go or get replaced.

Probably should replace it rather than get rid of it all together..it directs important cooling air.

REPLACE IT!! Do NOT remove it!!

At highway speeds, air travelling under and around the lower edge creates a LOW PRESSURE area. Nature tells us air moves from HIGH TO LOW (with a shift to the right if you like Corialis if I remember right), THUS hot air from the engine bay (higher pressure) will get "sucked" down to the low pressure area, thus aiding in engine cooling.

Also, it aids in keeping low pressure areas under the vehicle to aid with keeping the car on the road (yah yah yah. 80 mph and over it means something...

I also Agree with Sean removing the air dam greatly affects the engines ability to be properly cooled

I use mine to detect speed bumps and washboard gravel roads. That way you can keep your eyes closed.

(Don't quote me on this but didn't Taikuchin remove his?)
You might want to PM Taikuchin, I think he's actually removed the air dam.... ask him to see if there's been any problems with it being taken off.

Have you noticed that the Dream Cruiser DOES NOT have this plastic strip installed?

When I had my covers replaced, and put the Dream front on, I asked about why the plastic dam wasn't installed. They said it didn't have one, and then I verified by looking at several brand new Dreams on the lot.

So, is it really more that just a "Curb Feeler"?

I took it off & noticed that the temp gauge began to fluctuate (even at relatively low speeds) indicating that it was heating up enough for the fan to come on. Put it back on the same day & the gauge returned it's normal steady state.

You can make a large wager that Chrysler did not spend the money to develop and install it just to look cute. It is there for a reason - I'll let the engineers figure it out.
