Default I have a negative viewpoint on this car

I have an '01 limited. At 60K miles the ignition switch decided it would quit working---$220 in parts and labor. I just turned 70K this weekend and it started to have problems with overheating when the A/C was on and it was at idle for more that a few minutes. Well, its at the dealership today and I just got the phone call...radiator fan motor went out and I need a new radiator fan assembly---that will cost me another $487!!!!!!!!!. $140 for labor and the rest is for parts. I had to replace both front rotors on the car, but that was partially my own fault for buying cheap brake pads, instead of buying the Wagners. I still had to buy the Wagner pads and also replace both front rotors because they couldn't be turned...that was another $140 and I did all the labor.

The thing about it that really eats at me is that I have followed the maintenance by the book and even replaced the tranny filter and fluid even when the maintenance schedule didn't call for it.

my wife and I are having discussions about trading it in on a foreign car, but because the prices of new PTs have dropped so much I doubt we would get our money back out of it without being upside down.. We bought our new in June '00 for $20,400.

Barry

MNSHALE CRUSIER has over 60K on his... 3rd year of Minnesota Hard winters coming. Not too many cars can take the cold up here.

I think mine actually runs better in the cold.

Howdy again! I'm at 108,500 and she is running better than new. As mentioned above, once I got the transmission thing straightened out, absolutely no problems. My dealer is calling me every 2 weeks urging me to trade for a new one. Mine has no resale value or trade in value, even with all of the mods, and it is just where I want it...barely broken in. With continued use of Mobil 1, good tires and wheels, routine maintenance, and lots of TLC, this car should go another 100K easily.

PT=Good car!

Mine has over 43K and 2 trips to Az and back and not one problem...except for this silly grin on my face while driving

53k miles with a 17-year old behind the wheel. If it survives my driving, it'll survive anything

We haven't had any trouble with ours that wasn't covered by warranty. A 2001 that we picked up September of 2000

36k miles in 16 months, no problems. Not very high mileage, but I piled it on in a hurry.
