anyone familiar with the ordering process?
in the near future we'll be looking at ordering a GT.... afaik the spoiler is std equip on the GT? is this true? is it possible to order a GT without the spoiler? for some reason, the spoiler just spoils the roof line for me, and I know I can have it removed, but I don't know if it's just glued on or if it's screwed through the deck lid requiring filling of the holes and paint to cover them I have asked the salesmen, but I get vague answers... can anyone shine some light on this prediciment?

The spoiler has generally been a dealer installed option. If installed, the hatch is drilled into and the spoiler is attached/mounted by screws/bolts. The GT's I've seen at the local dealerships *do not* have the spoiler installed. Most dealers tend not to install additional equipment unless it's a slow moving model or color or a one off approved by management or the dealership owner. The advantage of having equipment installed by the dealer *before* you take delivery, is that all the options are covered under the standard warranty. Any dealer installed additions, except for turbo upgrades (adding stage 1, 2, or 3 may void the engine or drivetrain part of the standard warranty. Check with your dealer) after you drive off the lot, only receives whatever warranty that comes with that equipment (usually 90 days to 1 year warranty).
Custom or ordering a PT generally takes anywhere from 6-12 weeks. If you don't see anything on the lot or the dealer can't locate one with the equipment you want, then ordering is the way to go.

I would go to the Chrysler web site under the build your own PT
to find out for sure about the spoiler option. but I believe it is standard on the GT/ high output turbo model. You could go for the lower priced 180 hp turbo model but am not sure about the interior diference's of the 2 models ... You might be able to find a 03 turbo out there and save a bunch of money ...

every GT we saw had the body color spoiler installed, and most had the siruis radio option too, something I really don't think I need for an around town vehilce.
