Why drill holes in your car when YOU can install these yourself in 15 minutes. I know, they cost a few bucks. BEST money I EVER spent on my PT.

of course, you can get them here.

http://home.pcmagic.net/blajess/

Tell him Steve Larson sent you.

(NO, I DON"T work for him. He just deserves the business for having such a super product and fantastic service.)

Great job. Just thought I'd try to help those who may not have the ability to do it themseves or who are afraid to experiment.

I have the ability since I was a mechanic for over 20 years. I learned in that time that a tried and true product is ALWAYS worth the money. That's why I spent the money for a VERY nice looking POLISHED strut system that works like a dream.

Not that your struts are a "Jury Rig". But that is what we used to call a failed do it yourself project. Believe me, I've failed before.

Although, I don't have the satisfaction that you have because you did it yourself. (or had someone do it for you.)

Keep up the great mods and let us all know when you have one that works.

The DIY setup is fine for those who are able to do the work and willing to round up the parts and don't mind drilling the holes. The truth is that almost any hood struts are better than no hood struts, they don't have to look professional to do the job. This DIY setup will do the job for those who want to try it and it is a VERY satisfying project that those who have done it are rightfully proud.

The illistrated instructions and parts list is located on the PT Cruiser DIY web site at:

I just want to make sure that people realize that this DIY design is a very different design than mine and it will not perform the same as mine. It uses different size and quality gas springs, has a different geometry, will not work on aftermarket hoods whithout drilling the hood and can require some fairly fussy adjusments to fit correctly.

Also, I just checked today's US\Canada exchange rate and the actual cost of my standard Hood Lift Kit, delivered to your door in Canada by Global Priority Mail is $180.01 Can total, not $210.00 Can. My many Canadian customers can confirm this amount is the complete and total delivered cost. I just wanted to make sure the facts are straight.

Thanks, Blane

you also have to account on the fact we get hit with GST tax on $180.01 is about $12.60, Duty and depending on how it is shipped a broker fee as high as $35.00 I took all of this in account for my total of $210.00 and i am sure i am not far out ...

Dean,

Like I said, I am just trying to make sure that only the FACTS are presented and I already stated the fact I ship by Global Priority Mail, No Brokers fee, $0.00, none. Also, I included all applicable taxes and duties. So, once again the fact is that the TOTAL price of My Standard Kit to Canadians is $180.01 Can. delivered.

Thanks, Blane
