Default Tired of owning a PT

I went to California for a car show this weekend, had a blast and reenergized myself for wanting to mod the car after seeing the I-201 crew's cars.
This was until I got home and was reminded why I gave up for the past few months. We want to put Skirts side pipes on and a roll pan, but yet I can not find anything at a reasonable price. I look at Full size pick up prices and they are more then half the price of the same part for a PT.
I see roll pans for full size trucks as low as $150, front bumper covers as low as $200. I cant find anything that compares for a PT. I keep thinking more and more about trading in for a pick up rather then the turbo 04 I have been holding out for.

Unfortunately, that's the way it is at the moment. Many people were hoping and waiting for the prices would come down on many PT aftermarket parts but it hasn't. It is often cheaper to go to an old hot rod fabricator and have something made up, from steel.

Even Chrysler is behind the times. I saw an Import Car Show program on TV the other day where the factory turbo upgrades, if installed by the dealer, is covered under the standard warranty for many of the import cars.

I agree that custom PT parts are extremely pricey. I would like to do things to mine but just can't afford it. Ma Mopar should take the lead by making aftermarket stuff more affordable. My nephew has a Chevy pickup and he has done all kinds of mods to it and if I did the same to my PT it would cost me more than double.

decisions decisions. The prices of aftermarket mods are nothing short of a joke but I feel we as consumers are somewha at fault. If we quit paying the sky high prices they would have no choice but to lower the prices or go broke .

Food for thought.

I don't think PT owners realize how much power they hold. If you took just the people that read this forum and organized a boycot of Cruiser parts resellers for lets say, three months, I would bet the prices would plummet. Any takers? Lets get the ball rolling. I pledge not to order ANY parts for my Cruiser for the next three months, starting today.

NOT that i am taking the side of the body part companys .....
you must see why the parts are so much more than for pickups they have sold about 550,000 pt give or take and lets say 10 % are doing mods so that is 55,000 and 10% of them are doind major mods like body kits so now we are down to 5,500 PT,s the time and money that they put in to making the kits from design to finsh is much harder to recover with such a limited customer base so the price has to be higher

now when they do parts for lets say a 1995 chev pickup the body style was the same for 7 years they sold 6,000,000 trucks and with the same math we used on the PT you would have 60,000 people doing body kits that is 11 times the customer base and much easier to sell the body kits as well as you recover your design cost in a much shorter time so the price will be much lower sooner

The PT has been around long enough now that the prices have come down a bit but I don't ever see them coming down to a reasonable level.

Hey, do what I did. Keep the PT and get a truck, too. I heartily recommend the new Ram with the HEMI engine.
