hahah - you guys are all jokers!!

Light comes on once and awhile. Mostly when I backup from the driveway (5 speed), I goto neatural and into first, (while still rolling back) OR from a light I'll hit the gas hard and then the light will go off. 95% of the time its once of these..

The hand brake looks like its seated properly.

Fulid looks good, brake pads haven't been replaced, but they still have meat on them..

Dunno - any ideas?

Add some fluid.

That's most likely fix.

Keep in mind a few items from the service manual:

Page 5-74 of the 2002 manual:
If
the red BRAKE warning indicator is illuminated,
there is also a possibility that there is an ABS problem
and the amber ABS warning indicator is not able
to illuminate, so the MIC turns on the red BRAKE
warning indicator by default.

Thanks for the feedback MX5.. I will try adding more fluid at lunch time.

BTW - I don't have ABS either.

I hate it to be a fluid level switch!!

Keep ya posted.

Yesterday, true story, my wife drove us to the gas station and turned off the PT. I got out to pump gas and she turned the key to ON so she could listen to the radio. Then she yells, "We need an oil change, the oil light came on."

If some of you agree with her, let me tell you that when you turn the key on before you start the car, it turns on all the dash dummy-lights so you know if you have any bulbs out.
She ain't real bright, but I still love her.

I would check the E-Brake and make sure it is all the way down.
