Question Which ran/will run out first- MILEAGE or TIME on the warranty??

Reading Teds thread on the warranty got me thinking- my PT will be 3 in late September. I only have 44,000 kms on it. The BASIC warranty is 3 year OR 60,000 kms, whichever comes FIRST. The 7 year, 115,000 was added later by DC Canada to cover drive-train, to all 2002, and retro to the 2001 PT.

During the 3 years, I have NEVER had dealer intervention, but I wonder if I should before Sept. 19th! I do have a real small cloudy-paint spot on the roof, the emerg. brake doesn't catch 100% of the time when I park (this was a common prob. on the 2001 5 spd).

I have never had a motor or fit problem, no emblem ever fell off, tires are FINE (yes, Goodyear ones). I have changed my own oil every 5,000 kms, rotated tires each fall, ... I have never been to the dealer for service or warranty work at all (oops- they did do the lowering springs!!)

So I guess for me, 36 months will pass BEFORE the 60,000 kms! What about you??

In the U.S. the 7 year 70,000 mile drive train warranty was not made retro! My 2001 was made in March 2001 and I did not get that warranty. You're fortunate if it was made retro in Canada!

My 3 year 36,000 mile warranty will expire due to mileage rather than time as I have only 5,000 miles and 7 months left. I'll surely drive more than 5,000 miles in the next 7 mo. So far, my only warranty repairs have been a replaced taillight due to water intrusion, a dash bezel due to peeling and soon a steering wheel due to excessive wear of the finish. No mechanical problems.

Our 3 years will be up on Sept 25, and we are at 50,000 miles. I did put the extented warrenty on 7/100,000 and are sure to hit the mile mark before the 7 year is up. BTW the 7 years includes the first 3 years already covered by factory warrenty, this is a DC Service Plan.

Im closing in on 59,000 miles. Mine was bought 10/'02, so 3 years isn't up, but mileage was past long ago. I've never been back to dealer.

Same here, BULLY's PT was just 3 last month, but only 55,000 km on the speedo

I guess we didn't do enough cruiser events!

Chrysler is probably happy that my warranty expired10,000 miles ago. I had my entire engine replaced, clock spring replaced, bad window switch replaced, and weather strip fixed.

I have till 1/04 but only have 4,000 miles to go before 36.

Never been to dealer except for recall items, still have original tires.
Need to take in for:
Peeling center dash.
Steering wheel "leather" peeling off.
rear window making noise when lowering.

I'm still under warranty until November 1st. There'll be less than 25,000 miles on the clock and no problems other than the recalls for childseat tethers and fuel line routing etc.

Cheers!

Will be 3 years old September 26, and only got 24K on the bad boy!!!

Only been to dealer a couple times for every other oil change and recalls...I too am looking for a reason to get there to see if they 'can find anything' before warranty runs out !
