I don't think they even need to sand them. Sanding them makes a HUGE mess. They just spray over them with flex primer and then paint them. Take your car to a shop that will work with you and one that will let you see the car on a daily basis (if it takes a long time). That way you can ask them to do a little extra here and there as they put it back together.

Yeah, I'm also an advocate of the painted bumper cover route. It's easier, the surface to be painted is made for painting, and you can always take 'em off.

Have you, StOnEwHiTePt, or anyone else installed 2003 painted bumper covers on a 2002 or earlier PT? If so, how hard was it? It appears that these parts are less expensive than Xenon painted bumper covers.
