A "bell-crank"? What the heck. I think they pulled your leg. I've never heard of a bell-crank. Does any one know what that might be?
The railroad track is right on. It only rattles on certain types of bumps, like fast up and down ones.

The click when you shift to reverse - could it be the CV joints?

Rear wheel drive cars start to make that kind of noise when the U joints start to go out. havent had a front wheel drive car befor this one so I am a bit clueless. MX-5 or another one of the mechanics on this site should be able to help. You should send him a PM. or post in the performance forum where the gearheads hang out.

AAA-I see says the blind man peeing into the wind, it all comes back to me now. The bell-crank must be what they called the wattslink. I've also heard it called a canti-lever or something like that. Well it's back to the suspention I go.
