Default Dashboard Seal

I had to remove my dashboard top to access the instrument panel so I could wire the indicator light for my driving lights. Does anyone have a good tip for putting the dash back in place without the seal coming off? I tried with a friend for an hour and we thought we finally had it all in place and all the little hooks in place, and then later found that the seal was falling off and we could not get it to stay in place. It appears there was never any adhesive attached to keep the seal in place, so I'm not sure about putting anything there now...

Does anyone else know how to do this?

Are you referring to the rubber seal that goes around the front of the top dash cover and sits below the window line (at the front of the dash)?
I took off my top dash cover last weekend to install a Nuimage flame guage kit. I couldn't get the rubber seal to stay on the dash top either. It kept falling off as I tried to put the dash panel back on.
So I finally just pushed the rubber seal by itself down into the channel at the front of the dash (& below the window line) where it would normally go. I then pushed the dash top panel into place and into the rubber seal. It seemed to work ok by doing this.
Hope this helps.
John

Hmmm.... I've had my dash of 3 or 4 times and never even noticed a seal.

PTCruzr, maybe your rubber seal stayed down in the "track" and didn't come out when you pulled the top dash out. You're probably better off if it just stayed there anyway.

That's probably what happened. I remember thinking how easy it was to remove and put back on. Lucky me.

I'll have to look again. I had someone else helping me and we had a terrible time getting the a-pillar clips into the dash board and getting all the other connections to fit and to tell you the truth, I never noticed a track at the base of the windshield. I kept getting the seal stuck on the rubber that sits over the bare metal on the dash toward the windshield.

Thanks.

I just left mine off! I was getting a random 'cracking' noise for ages. When I took the dash top off, I forgot to put the seal back on. Since then, no random cracking noise. Go figure!
