Default seat height

Hi

I posted a while ago about having back pain at night after driving a lot, and have stil noticed that it is continuing. I don't think it's lumbar support, as support cushions don't seem to help. I'm now wondering if it has to do with seat height - my cruiser has about 14.5 inches from the floor to the seat, which is 2" higher than any other car I've got - Is it possible that my legs are having to move to far for the clutch and gas pedal? I can't quite tell yet ....

since I love the car so much I'm going to have to find a fix somewhere, somehow - I'm still hoping that someone out there might have noticed the same thing and found a fix.

1. Does any one know if the power seats with height adjustments go LOWER than the nonpowered version?
2. Has anyone tried any after market seats?
3. Any other ideas out there?

Thanks for your input -

Hi. Last time you posted I responded that my seat was great, but now that you mention it, I realized that because I am short, I had adjusted the seat forward and the back a little straighter. It could give you a backache if you are stretching too far for the pedals. I have a 5 speed so I kind of have no choice - gotta reach the clutch!

The power seat in its lowest position is similiar to the standard. My head almost brushes the roof in a PT with power seats at the lowest position & moonroof. I might like the height adjuster for long trips but I couldn't have a hole in the roof.

I'm thinking the best way might be to experiment - I'll move the seat in, lean it back and see if that helps. Maybe I can try some foam on the floor to raise it up and see if that helps - if that's it, I can have some sort of upolsterer make something that fits around the pedals.

If it turns out to be the seats, I suppose I can have the seats altered ( an upolsterer can add/subtract cushioning) - and there are after market seats.....

Another idea - try folding a towel and putting it on the front of the seat bottom. I had a car that you could tip the front of the seat up and it helped! If that's not it, I'd keep refolding the towel and move it around the seat until you find exactly where you need the cushioning.

I was thinking along the same lines. I'm 6 foot so I don't really have an issue with stretching to put down the clutch. I have however noticed that there is a lack of support under my legs at the leading edge of the seat which after a long drive does cause some stiffness in my lower back. I previously had a car that you could adjust the the angle of the seat base either making it parallel to the floor or lowering the rear of the base to allow more support under my legs at the front of the seat. I had driven 20 hours +/- numerous times in that car with no back pain.
