another story..................

Traverse City, Michigan-AP -- The world's largest automaker plans to add nine new vehicles to the Chevrolet brand over the next few years. The new rollouts will include a high-roofed crossover vehicle, code named H-H-R. It's scheduled for the 2006 model year and will be targeted to young families.

G-M North America President Gary Cowger says the design of the H-H-R is a blend of Chevy's upcoming S-S-R roadster and the 1949 Suburban.

Crossover vehicles, which can have some characteristics of a car, minivan and sport utility vehicle, were the fastest-growing category last year. They include entries such as the Honda Element, Chrysler Pacifica and Toyota RAV-4.

The price for the H-H-R hasn't been set yet.

If they can put it on the road for around $25,000.00, I think they will have a winner. Any more than that and they will learn the lesson that Ford did with the Thunderbird that the public will not pay the high inflated price for a retro vehicle.

I really don't think the PT would be as successful if they had priced it higher. When I first saw the Pronto Cruiser concept, I figured that if they actually made that vehicle it would be in the $35-40k price range. They really did a great job with the PT, keeping the style and bringing the price in below $25k.
