Angry DC loses another sale

Possibly.
Once my PT is paid off(Dec), we will be new car shopping. I was planning to keep my 01 and pick up a new turbo. I was a bit put off by the 23-24K price of a GT. Then, a few months ago, i heard rumors of the turbo engine being put in the base and touring! I got excited about that, becasue i figured with rebates and DC employee family discounts etc, i could get into one for around 17K.
So now what do i hear? The GT goes UP in price, i may or may not be able to get a 5 speed on the lower models, and they wont put the 215 HP engine in the lower models!!!! What i was hoping to get was the 215hp 5 speed in a base PT.
I am NOT going to get the "low power" turbo. i would always be pissed that i passed on theone i really wanted. But i am NOT paying 25K to get it.
DC, you just lost a sale if all this is true. Why would they not put the Hi Po engine in the base model?
Didn't their experience with the Road Runner teach them anything?

I hear ya......while the lower output makes sense, I can't understand why they're not mating it with the regular 5-spd. Its the same 2.4L engine, ....the bell housing the same right, so why not?

It seems THEY do what THEY want to no matter what our opinions are.

I would bet the standard 5 speed clutch can't take the turbo's torque.

you may want to check out autotrader.com, they have some GT's with options for around what you were wanting to pay, with under 10k miles. i think its a good deal,

It is totaly understandable!!!!....We have to have somthing to look forward to. If they put it all out in the first year they do anything, the sales for the rest would be to poor to support it. So they sell it to people who cant wait! As we have proven>>>"Ooooo i have to have a PT... I dont care if i pay $5000 over sticker" .....then it's........."Ooooooo they are giving rebated on the PT now... I ll get one tomarrow"........then..........OMFG TURBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!.........then........"O man a cheep turbo".........Then it will be " WOW a cheep 5 speed turbo".........And next year ( i think) it will be................"COOL a convertable PT".......then its..........."TURBO convertable!!!!"...............etc. etc.

I think you get the picture!

Just saw a "Base" turbo model at a dealership yesterday. It was a 5-speed with the painted 17" wheels, for options it only had a sunroof and seat-height adjuster and was stickered for just under $25000!

I know, i was one of those who could not wait! I paid sticker for my 01. Funny thing is, i actually could have gotten a GT a few months ago for around the same price as i paid for my 01-F package...18K. Between the rebates, being able to buy at invoice, and the 'family' discount that DC was offering, the discount i could have gotten was a littel over 5K. probklem is, i am not ready yet...need to pay one off beforei go buy another one. .
I might end up with a Liberty, so i guess DC won't really lose a sale. I don't know, i guess i will see what develops between now and then. I am just confused that DC wasnt moving the turbo's, so they raise the price? Makes no sense
