Saxon,
I hear you excactly. I was waiting to hear more about the "cheaper turbo" which is suppose to attract the younger crowd. This low power turbo option is NOT going to attract the younger crowd DC was hoping. I'd like to know their thinking of why they think otherwise? Or have they given up on trying to attract more "yoots" to the PT, and are simply addressing in the base version, one of the PT biggest complaints - lack of power? In my mind I'd give up ABS and traction control (keep 4 wheel disks) - no leather, no side airbags, no sunroof, base CD radio, aluminum and not chrome wheels 16" and lower the price $1500. But I'm a function over form kind of person. Now I'm going to have slim pickins of non loaded 2003's to choose from. Didn't DC learn from the Pacifica? People didn't want the fully loaded 40K model, and they rushed the cheaper ones in. For the 25K + sticker of a '04 PT GT, there are other similar sized and powered cars to look at, for example the new Subaru Forester, which carries the new 2.5L turbo engine and has AWD for near the same price. |

Tubro-lite? Not worth the extra moving parts, calling the old turbo 'High Output'? MARKETING!
I'm hoping the rag-top looks better in person and has a full boost option with the Getrag five speed, then it will be new car time. GOTTALUVIT! Dad/\/\an |

Well, more and more it's making sense to me to keep my loaded '01 LE 5-spd, and add a Hahn turbo down the road. BEST case scenario, it would cost me 7 to 8 K to move up to an '03 Turbo (I only have 5,200 miles on my '01). For half that, I can get a turbo installed that puts out 190HP, and being a 5-spd, will play hell with an Autostick 215 HP.
Your opinion may vary. ![]()

Probably won't do any good, but I sent them (DC) an e-amil detailing how I am opposed to them cutting back on all of the PT features. I didn't mention the turbo, just all of the things that they have dropped off of the PT. It burns my butt! I am getting really creeped out-I want a turbo panel wagon!!! They aren't even using them for display anymore.

Maybe they will introduce an SXT version. It seems that the SXT's are built with power and performance in mind, but hardly any of the creature comforts. Look at an SXT Neon, Intrepid, etc. They have the power, but not the goodies.

SXT = Dodge I didn't know the SXT version of the Neon had either the 2.0L Magnum engine of the ACR/RT or the 2.4L Turbo of the SRT4. But you have a point on the Intrepid SXT, it has the higher output engine. That's kind of what I hoped for the Turbo in '04 - but I doubt it's gonna happen. |

I was basically faced with the same decision. The $3500 off coupon and the fact the dealer gave me $1000 more than Blubook after a little push and shove, helped make up my mind.
I went ahead and got a 2003. The car is only costing me $9.00 more a month and with all the extra's is more than worth it. I would go for a straight GT, no watered down turbo. The car is amazing to drive. The PT always felt like it couldn't breathe, the GT does away with that ........its a fast car. Pat
