Default 3rd Brake Light

I bought a 3rd brake light sticker last year, around late November early December. Forget who I got it from (actually bought 2, in case I screwed the first one up installing it). Noticed when I was washing the car for the Modesto Cruiserfest, that it had started to melt

So, I am in the market for a replacement ( won't use the spare, as I suspect the same thing would happen to it, as well). I am open to suggestions on which one to get. I think there are a few folks on this forum who are making these available. I only ask that the next one be:
1- easy to install
2- NON-Meltable
3- reasonably priced
and
4- customizable ( I'd like mine to say "Phoebe" as that is the name of my PT)

Suggest away.

thanks-
JoAnn

I seem to remember a post a while back from Rich at Streamline Design about some of their diffusers melting due to a mix up in the plastic film that was used. You should contact him if you think there is a chance you bought it from them.

I have the 3BL Diffuser from Streamline and it's great. Had it on for about 8 months with no problems. It goes inside the 3BL and is very thick so i doubt it would melt.

Streamline will do the custome work and do a great job at that. http://www.streamlinedesigns.com/

Also, the PT Warehouse can get them. http://www.ptwharehouse.com/

Thanks Pars,
But I do not do Custom Clings.
Rich Davis from Streamline Design will do the Custom ones.

By the Way JoAnn, if you have one sticker left, do they go on the inside or outside of the Hatch window?
If they are the kinds that stick on the inside, your best bet is to use your second one, but this time. place electrical tape around the perimeter of the Sticker (half on the sticker and half off the sticker.)
The 3rd Brake light throws a heck of a lot of heat when the brakes are applied. If there was dirt that had collected underneath your sticker, the corner of the sticker may have gotten loos and with you applying the brakes, the heat generated from the third brake light may have caused the corner to peel more and more until the sticker may have been touching the brake light, therefore creating it to melt.
What the tape will do is stop the corners to come loose from the heat. Try it. I bet you that works.

Good luck to you JoAnn

Marc

Yep, this is true - unfortunately.

We ran into a situation where our vendor sent us the wrong material. It looked the same, but was not the high-heat resistant material that we normally use. We had no idea who got the bad ones.

We are replacing them at no cost with our heat resistant material.

Contact us for more info.

Thanks,

Thanks,
I was one who got a bad one from Rich. He made good on it with no fuss/muss. Have been running the replacement all summer and it has survived 114 degrees as noted on the PT thermo. Thanks again, Rich!

Thanks all for you resonses. I think I now have great direction on how to go about this.

Marc - I had the kind that go in the inside of the hatch. had to pull off the covering of the 3rd brakelight and install. It was inifinitely re-positional, so if i screwed it up the first time ( which I did, of course) it was easy to position again. I might try your suggestion with the second one, but i think I may just order one from Marc and a personalized one (Phoebe) from Rich. Can never have too many PT toys, now can we?
