Default Headlight Bulb Size Discrepancy

I know it's been asked over and over again, but what is the headlight bulb size?

Looking on PTDIY and on here, the general census is 9006 (XS?). However I look in the 2001 Owners Manual (pg 216, 2nd column) and it says 9007.

Should I take the word of the people or the official word?

I don't know what manual you are referring to.
Page 216 of the 2001 owners manual is about power steering.

Page 242 of the 2001 owners manual lists the bulbs for the entire car.
Low beams are 9006xs and high is 9005xs.

There are no 9007 bulbs anywhere.

I have used the 9006 (no xs, no elbow) in the low-beams. Its a VERY tight fit AND you have to make sure that the slots are truly lined-up and the bulb fully twisted into place, otherwise the lamps will appear as if they are mis-aligned. (when in facts, the filament is not in the true focal point).

BE SURE TO USE 54/55W LOWS!! Do NOT put in 80W lows- they will do damage to wiring harnesses and the lamp itself.

I also have the 2001 Manual, perhaps it's because I have the Early Model 01 ?

Those with a very early PT should have gotten a correction notice on the headlight. A coworker's PT had the correct with the car.
