I'd like to run my GT Cruiser at the track to see its 1/4 mile times, but the track's website says that all automatics are to have a "neutral safety switch" before they'll let it run.
Does anyone know what this "neutral safety switch" is? Is it already installed on the GT? If not, where can I find one and what will it cost? Does the auto'stick' transmission negate the need for this switch? Thanks for any help you can provide. |

I think a neutral safety switch means you can't start the engine while it is in gear. But I don't know why that would make a differance in drag racing?
Maybe it is a switch that locks out reverse so if you try to shift your auto trans you won't go through neutral in to reverse by mistake? Well you got me. |

Rules From Gulfport Dragway
Neutral Safety Switch: A functioning neutral safety switch is required on ALL vehicles. See Shifter. Shifter: Stock shifters are fine. Any aftermarket automatic shifter must be equipped with a spring-loaded, positive Reverse lockout. A functioning neutral safety switch is mandatory. So, you already have one, so you can race all you want... have a good time! ![]()
