For what it's worth, this is how I bought my 2001 LE.
I knew what color and option package I wanted.
I went to or called 8 dealers and told them they had ONE shot. I wanted their best price within 72 hours. They were given my email address and told to mail it it to me. And I advised it was a simple game. There would be no negotiating, and no playing one dealer against the other. All offers were secret, I would not feed insider knowledge to another dealer, everybody was on a level playing field, and I would buy from the best price.
When the smoke cleared, there was $6000 Cdn difference from the top to the bottom.
I then kept my part of the bargain, and bought from the best price, no further haggling.

Try it, you have nothing to lose.

To convince her that it's practical - have her drive one (be careful with this, she may never let you drive). Show her all the different seat configurations and that they are removable. Also mention the safety ratings - PTs rank pretty high. Worth buying new? You both probably work very hard and you deserve it...and the 7/70 warantee...and that "new car smell".
