The underhood switch is for the factory alarm system. It was only used on the 2001 PTs.

Any newer ones can have the entire engine stolen without setting off the alarm. Or, as a thief would think..... he can jack open the hood and disconnect the battery, thus disabling the alarm. Now he has free run of your PT.

Nice thought from Mopar, huh?

You might have seen me, lisa. I heard Bluemeanie on my CB, but I didn't see him either.

So the dimple rims where first or second edition? I have an early 2001. So wouldn't the dimples be first edition?

I guess DC thought the hood would be impermable to a crow bar, right?
And after all...who would want to steal a cruiser and ruin its good looks in the process!

They probably figured the thief would never be able to find the battery. It took me about an hour to find mine.

Both the smooth and dimple wheels were produce in 2001....its seems the Canadian cruisers got a good number of the dimple ones, while here in the States, more of us got the smooth ones, although some did get dimpled ones early on too...I seem to recall the supply of the chrome wheels were tight at one point in 2001 production, so I think DC started sending them out with whichever of the two they had available at the time.

I seem to recall that someone in PTCOC had purchased a 2002 last year and they had mixed the rims on his-he had 2 dimples and 2 smoothies!

As for the rims I remember when I ordered my limited back in 2000 both style rims were on the order form, I think it was style I and II. I ordered the non dimpled. I heard at one point it didn't matter what you ordered, they sent your car with what they had but that was back when a PT was hard to get.
