Even more interesting...this is a direct quote from his PT site:
"Many say that the PT is based on the cars from the 40's. To me, the PT looks like it is based on the 1937 Ford". Direct contradiction to the sig quote, no?

WOOW! Hold on there. Don't kick me off PTE yet. I was just up set with some PT owners that were going on about how DC didn't put the right retro bumpers on the PT, and how the tail lights should have been more like a '30's car. And how NEW AGE custom items just don't look right on the PT because it is a Retro Car. Well basically my sig is ment to bring people back to the real world a little. The PT is a NEW car with the slight looks of an old fasion car. I think some people buy a PT and think that they really have a "hot rod". That belittles the guys who some times spend their whole lives and entire paychecks restoring real 1930's cars. Don't get me wrong with that. I LOVE the PT and it has changed my life, But I don't think a stock PT is a "Hot Rod" or classic car just bassed on the way it looks.

LOL. Nobody's kicking you off PTE. It's just that some of us get our backs up when "PT Cruiser" is mentioned in the same breath as Neon. People not in the know don't understand that just because they might have been developed together doesn't mean the chassis is physically the same. To ordinary folks, same "platform" means same chassis which of course it isn't.
No, it's not a hot rod right out of the box (with the exception maybe of the Turbo), but I'm amazed at what some of these guys are doing. Others are going for a retro look with the mods. I think in 20 years the PT will be a classic in it's own right.

I think that is true about the PT being a classic someday. I'm in my mid twenties and I always think which cars from now will be the cars my son will be restoring when he is my age. The first one that comes to mind is the PT.
It's funny when I was looking for my first car to "fix up", I wanted a 1955 chevy panel wagon so bad. You now the ones that looked like a Nomad but had the metal panel back windows. Well my dad had one when he was a kid. He crashed it and then shot out all the windows, parted it out and left the main body out behind my grandmother's house. By time I was old enough to know what it was, it was to far gone to repair. At the time when my dad drove it there were a lot of them on the road so it was no big deal to throw it away. It kind of makes you want to buy a new car now and hide it away some where for 30 years. |

I saw this on a post he made on an earlier thread and questioned it then-he added it to his sig after. The preceding line was something about PT people crying about how their car wasn't retro enough-he did say that. If I could remember the name of the thread, I would let you know where it is-I am too old..... ![]() I looked-the original statement is in the thread "I wonder if these will fit" by Mark1.
