Unhappy I have a problem!

Here is my problem. We won an auction on eBay yesterday for a complete set of leather seats for our PT. The price: $356.00. The problem: The auction stated Ohio, so that is where we figured we had to go to pick them up. No biggie, 5 1/2 hours each way. We could do it in a day. Unfortunately, the seats are actually in Wisconsin! This makes for a considerably longer drive. We would have to spend the night somewhere, and Dave doesn't really want to do that.

Motel 6 it.....and learn the lesson of contacting the seller for the exact location first....or just pay for the seats and write off the expense and tell the seller to keep them....or not honor the auction and give up buying on ebay............all costly choices--

I'd go with Motel 6-make a long weekend out of it---find some tourist attractions along the way (take the 'long way if you have to) and make an adventure/road trip out of it---be a good story to tell at meet and greets......silk purse out of a sow's ear kind of thing....

We just figured that if it said Akron, Ohio that that is where the seats would be. Who was to know that they were going to be several states away from that?
We deal on eBay constantly so we would never dis-honour our bid. The worst that we could do, and I would prefer not to do that, would be to contact the seller and agree to pay the expenses of the auction. He could still sell the seats to the other person who we outbid in the last minute of the auction. It was only a difference of $6.00.
There aren't any board members out there in the Wisconsin area who will have enough room in their car to transport a full set of seats from Wisconsin to Cruise The Falls, are there?

Would the seller be willing to do a little traveling too??? Maybe you could meet half way or something.

Get them shipped to Michigan and go get them there.

WATCH IT THOUGH- even though they are $365 US, if the border guard deems them worth $600 USD, you will be hit with 15% taxes ON THE CONVERTED VALUE, payable right there, or you cannot bring them in at all !!

Good luck!

Or take all the seats out and use milk cartons to set on, then put the new ones in, who would know then??

I still vote for a 'fun' road trip! Common--make an adventure out of it-hurts now but you'll laugh about it later.....the PT is made to drive......heck--take the road tip, post pics and I'll pick up the tab for your first tank of gas!!

No problem. Matt (Kdude) just got out of the hospital and he'll be glad to go to Wisconsin and pick up those seats for you. Then he'll drive 'em to Akron, reserve the conference center at the Holiday Inn (Krispy Kremes and coffee on the buffet), and present you the seats. I think there'll also be time for a dip in the pool and a special showing of all the slides from Matt's trip to Disney World.

Right, Matt?

Cokebear. If at58 is willing to pick them up, I can very easily get them from him tomorrow at Farmer City and bring the back seats with me to CTF. Is anyone willing to shlep the front seats (Kat)?? Lets help a fellow PTEer.

Dan
