Talking Leather seat question / Saw D.C.2 #1887 today

I took my mom with me today to visit a couple dealerships, and after having told my mom about the DC2, she points to one and says, "Isn't that something orange?" Yep, I jump out of the car (put it in Park, first) and checked it out. I finally saw a DC2 (#1887) with my own eyes.

I noticed something about it that no one else has said before. The PT Cruiser logo that resides on the passenger side airbag cover is a cool irridescent color on the DC2. It's chrome in the regular Turbo (Electric Blue) and mine is just raised letters under the paint. Hmm! Also, the instrument cluster has a silver-ish background, rather than white. And yes, it both the GT and the DC2 lacked the clip to hold a gas cap. Weird.

My whole reason for visiting dealerships was to try out the PT leather seats before I get some for my Touring Edition. The standard leather seats aren't too shabby. But after trying the GT leather seats...wow. I like them more. Still not nearly enough leg support for my long legs, but noticably more comfortable.

Here's a question I have for those that like to take things apart. Are the PT seats built in such a way that I could theoretically put a small stack of washers or something under the mounting bolts for just the front of the seat, which would boost the seat cushion upwards near the steering wheel? This would leave the back end of the seat mounted as normal. I'm aiming to be able to support my legs more.

Opinions?

My Dreamer has the gas clip thingy. Not sure if you would want to mess with the way the seats are mounted. With the front airbags
it might effect the effectiveness of them , but I am not sure.
You could ask your local Chrysler dealer .

Today was the first time I noticed the changing color of the PT Cruiser on the passenger air bag as well. That is cool.

I would think that changing the angle of the seat bottom wouldn't make any difference to the airbag, since the back of the seat angles already. I would end up with the seat back at a more forward position to compensate, thus leaving the airbag in the same position as it already is.

yes the PT Cruiser on the air bag cover is a cool irridescent and no my DC II doen't have the clip on the gas door i thought it very strange and you will find on the Leather seats at least on the DCII has a high ajustment right on the seat to raise and lower the seats

TangerineDream: Those seats are basically what I want to order, but without the height adjuster. The power seats raise and lower the rear end of the seat, not the front. Thus, I would still have it all the way down, which is the same as a non-power seat. {Shrug} No big deal. I just need to find the part number for GT Leather, Side Airbags, Heated and Taupe. Good luck, right? hehe

i wouldn't mess around with the seat mounts. if you're in an accident, you want all those bolts secure. if you are going for more comfort, consider a set of aftermarket seats. there are a few choices out there
