Default potential oil leak problem

hi all-
i was at the dealer the other day for service, when i discovered that my pt has pieces of the valve cover gasket hanging out on the corners. It looks like black rubber and can be found behind the auto trand dipstick where the valve cover bolts down at the corner. this black rubber had oil on it, but my pt does not leak. after looking at some new cars on the lot, i found the same circumstances. i wiped the small dot of il off the rubber gasket that day. a week later the rubber gasket had oil on it again. I returned to the dealer, and they said if it doesn't leak on the ground or onto other engine parts, there is no problem--they said it is normal for the seal to become saturated with oil. does anyone else out there have these symptoms on their pt? i just thought you all should be aware of this.
thanks all**
