I don't think they fit to tight in the spark plug well. When i change mine in my Dodge 2.0, I stick the plug inside of the boot to install them, you know twist them in. Then yank the boot off and tighten with torque wrench. I think it's only the top part of the boot that snaps into place. Maybe not though...

I am thinking about neon spark plug wires but they aren't cheap
