Default REMOVING OVERSPRAY ( help ! )

Already had to have some bodywork done on
my PT ( front fender was dammaged ) The job
turned out good however there is a fine overspray
from the painting over several areas of the car.
Feels rough when you run your hands over it.
How can I remove this ( I dont really want anyone
else touching the car ) I was thinking of a clay bar ,
but never used one before.

Any sugestion would be greatly appreciated. I've got
to think this happens a lot with paint repairs if the
car is not properly covered.

Please help............thanks

Read the post on Claybar in the "Care and feeding of your PT Cruiser" section. I think you will find this will answer your question quite clearly.....Did mine!

No matter how carefully they prep a car when shooting paint, overspray ends up somewhere.

Clay is just the ticket - it doesn't remove paint, won't scratch (assuming you don't drop it on the ground and try to reuse it) and is easier than a high speed wheel and a light compound.

By a good quality clay bar (yellow or blue in color), some lubricant, and have at it.

Yup. Forrest is correct. Mother's makes a good one (if Forrest is too modest to recommend his own brand name, I will!)

Hey ,

Thanks for the help guys. I'm going to try the clay
bar next week. ( Really great to know it works )

After using the clay , do you need to wax right away
or can you wait a week or so ?

Personally, I'd wax the same day.

I had to do this too. Forrest recomended the Mothers claybar kit to me. It did the trick. Hey my overspray was soo bad on the roof you could "see" it. I do recomend the Mothers stuff.

Sorry if this is a stupid question......What kind of lubricant...and what is it for exactly? I have overspray aswell, just curious!

You use the Mothers instant detailer. It actually comes in the kit with the clay bar and a small bottle of yellow wax. Spray the instant detailer in 2 foot square sections at a time. Just drag the clay over it it will glide across you can actually "hear" it removing the over spray. Have a towel ready as you pull the bar to you because it going to push all liqiud to ya. Over lap strokes/pulls after each section fold the clay into itself and flaten out again for the next section. Some sections required me to go over twice it will vary on the amount of over spray. Hope it helps. Hey I never even knew what a clay bar was until I got this car. It's not too hard at all. Just take your time it will work.
