This is strictly hearsay. My understanding was that the radio antenna was used to receive the signals from the fob.

Funny you should mention the "under Chin" method. Almost a year ago, we all wandered off to the Euro Rally in Belgium. Whilst making (one of many) pit stops, someone mentioned about putting the remote on the back of your neck, pointing at the car and pressing the button, to extend the range. We didnt believe it, till we tried it. IT WORKED!! So here is a picture of us getting some VERY strange looks in a car park, lost but having fun, somewhere between France and Belgium.

Pictured (left to right) Ginger, Shellski and Monochrome......I was safely behind the lense!

Some of the locals stared in dis-belief, I think they though we were neo nazi's practicing our "salute"!

I believe the range on the stock PT alarm is very limited on purpose. I thought I read somewhere that the range is only 26 feet? On my wifes aftermarket Viper, it works from across the parking lot. Maybe Chrysler was afraid people would run up and down parking lots pushing remotes to see if any cars would open? (on the Viper, the chin trick almost doubles the range-honestly!)

I like being Tumor-less, so I'll just hold it in my hand.

I tried the chin-trick last night, and it certainly seemed to work! Range was increased by a quarter to a third, with a couple of vehicles partially blocking line of sight.

I'm not about to try the neck-and-point trick...not unless it's a dark night!
