Default Front End Vibration

As soon as I left the dealership with my 2003 Turbo GT, I noticed a vibration at 75-80 mph. The dealer did everything he could and two weeks later the problem was basically solved with four new 17" wheels (stock not chrome) and 4 new Goodyear tires.
The service manager told me that there is definitely a problem because when he calls his factory Hot LIne, it tells him to press "1" if you have a problem with a 2003 Cruiser front end vibration.
I still detect a slight tremor at 80 mph, but maybe I'm too fussy.
Anyone else have a problem?
Don

Hi Don- welcome to PTE.

I have that problem today in my van- I rotated the tires on the weekend and get a low-speed vibration. It is the tire balancing, so once they were rebalanced (the rears, since it was the BUTT not the steering wheel, which would mean its the fronts), the vibration went away.

If the service line actually has a "Press 1 for GT vibration", yah, to me it sounds like a common problem! Many people here have also complained about the Goodyear tire issues with the PT, perhaps Badyear has finally admitted fault and will replace the tires.

I hope that you get the RIMS that you paid for though- by replacing the rims AND tires, it is tough to tell what the culprit was.

Cheers

I hope there won't also be an Badyear issue with these tires too! (nor with the chrome wheels) The previous problem was mainly with the 16" Eagle LS's, however the GT sports 17" Eagle RSA's. Since they replaced the wheels and the tires, no telling what the problem was.

It is interesting that the phone line would have a choice just for GT vibration

I have no vibration with my GT and the chrome rims. I did on the '01 after a tire rotation and had them re-balanced. The GT has Goodyears aRSAs and they are supposed to be better that the LS that were on the earlier ones. I guess time will tell.

Yep...

Had the same vibration when hitting speeds over 65 mph. Tried 3 balances from different body shops but could not find the reason behind it.

Complained to Goodyear twice and Goodyear finally sent me to a local Dobbs Tire Center. They has 4 brand new Goodyear Eagle RSAs waiting for me to replace my stock LS...

Now I that I've purchased new rims and had my tires upgraded... NO VIBRATION... even at speeds over 100mph...

Yeah, Welcome aboard Don!
I've got a vibration too, but only between say 25-40mph. I don't feel it, but the steering wheel wobbles slightly back and forth. Is that just a balance thing, or something more serious? It didn't happen until after the tires were rotated.

Sounds like a BALANCE issue to me...

Just like a good marriage, tires need to be balanced. (right dear??? )
