The speed limit of the curve was lower than how fast I was going. However, the only safe way for me to enjoy the curve and take it at MY speed was to be in front of the jerk in the F150. When I first got to the light, and he wasn't there yet, I thought about how great it'd be if the road in front of me was clear of cars so I could enjoy the curve. Well, it was clear of cars. But the F150 wanted to misuse one left turn lane at the intersection and another just beyond it.

But yeah, you could say I was a traffic law violator...but as far as who's worse, I was the lesser of two evils.

I'll agree with the Mustang comment. They maybe stylish, but they are overrated. There was a time when I had my first car, the Cutlass, and I was heading to Newmarket. Yonge Street is a big main road and probably the most major intersection in Newmarket is Davis and Yonge. It was very late (or very early, depending on your perspective) and I raced a Mustang in my Cutlass down Yonge Street through past Davis Drive. "The W#ore" as I called her back then, beat the Mustang. It was close, but I did win. Now, the car buffs are saying, "But they're comparable." Not when the Mustang has the V8, and the Cutlass has a 6 with a blown cylinder. She earned her premium gas that night!

Don't let the Big Wheels & Tires & Speed Equipment Decals fool you.

Some ( maybe many ) Hot Looking Cars have some pretty tired ( and/or small ) engines & transmissions in them.

I bet most little PT's can outrun Big Engine Heavyweights like SUV's, Dualie Pickups etc.. also.

I can relate Robert. I got to race a F150 when my Pt was stock and I won. Really gets my adrenalin going. Congrats on a cool little victory and a little fun. Still haven't had a chance to race those little Honda rice burners yet.

I agree that they have nothing to prove, but I would think they would want to USE their power when it counts-like merging onto a highway up to the speed of traffic. Funny, I think the morons around here just drive them so that they can brag about what they drive. Too childish for words.

Mission accomplished, yes, but ya gotta watch out for someone like that (he was clearly pissed off), getting around traffic and coming after you. You just never know these days...

GG

P.S. - I dusted a Ford Escort Sport today.

Rice burners I don't even mention beating because I do it so often. When you get a 1/4 mile time in the 20's, you have no place even trying to LOOK fast...

GG, yes, someone like that may come after me. Let's hope it's NEVER or AFTER I have all turbo work done and all that. When driving, I suspect I'm like a lot of people in that some of that fear never registers with me.

Can't tell you why other people drive the cars that they do. Just why we have the vehicles we drive. Wether it's the (or was the)PT, the Viper, the Lightning or the M3...they are all enjoyable driving expierences...although all very different. Lets face it...comparing the PT and Viper would be useless...but we enjoyed them both just the same. Like most car enthuisists we drive to enjoy!

Our Duramax HD2500 Chevy Pickup has the same 0-60 time as my PT (8.6sec from Car and Driver), but it has much more horsepower and torque.
Its easy to get a good start with a manual transmission. I hope to be going the turbo route also... but i have only 22k miles after 2+ years, so there is the whole warranty issue.

I only try to pin people in on the highway when they try to pass groups of cars in the right lane. Its fun when the pick is a 16 wheeler.

I've had the same thing happen to me...big, powerful trucks tailgating and bullying my Cruiser like mad, no matter how fast I am going...until I hit a curve or a ramp, that is! I hit the gas like crazy and fly around the corner, while the less than agile trucks end up sliding sideways down the highway, tire smoke everywhere...such a shame...
