thats the $64K question
the warranty covers everything bumper to bumper for any defect. the issue is how that is interpreted by individual dealers. if they can blame some cause besides production error/defective part such as may be attributed to customer use--then they are off the hook... the issue to stress with your dealer is "lack of resistance to chipping" since they will most likely attribute the paint defects as "rock chips" which are not covered. "lack of resistance to chipping" however, indicates a flaw in the application, hardening, or adherance of the paint--hence, manufacturer defect. ford/firestone for example first tried to blame users and dealers for not fully inflating their tires, etc... one can only hope for the manufacturer to ultimately accept responsibility for this problem... until then, dealer personnel (who work for the deralership--not DCX) will be "interpreting" what "bumper to bumper defect free" means... |
