Default possible future recall for 2002 PT's

to all new 2002 PT owners: two week into my new PT ownership we hit a problem. Everything in the dashboard wern crazy and none ot the lights would go off. The dealer fixed it and said it was the instrument cluster. The interesting part was an engineer for Detroit flew out here to look it over, he was "interested in it" according to the dealer. This smells to me of a problem and possibly a future recall. Has anyone else had this problem on a 2002?

One incident does not a recall make.

I agree.. it sounds a little strange for a special trip to be made because he was interested in the problem. Sounds to me like they knew of the potential problem, continued with production and are now trying to figure out what the problem is and how to correct it.

And we all know that dealers are THE BEST source of acurate, timely and unbiased information and that they WILL NEVER blow smoke up your shorts...

We are having a similar problem but it is really just the speedometer going haywire at certain shift points. The needle jumps all over the place and kills the cruise when it is on. It also has gone in to fits where it will not shoft out of second gear.

Going in for service Monday morning. I hope this is an easy fix.

I had that happen to my 2001 before I even took delivery. I know other 2001s have had the same problem from reading several boards. I don't know how wide spread the problem is, but it is interesting.
