Default Offical empty nest and PT still safe

Got our youngest moved into ISU yesterday, that was the last duty for the old blue van, now I hope it will find a new home. We'll worry about how to bring him home later. I broke down and let our son drive the PT once before he left and I'm sorry I did! He had to "see what she's got" I was in the back seat and a nervous wreck!!! But now I have even more reason NOT TO LET HIM GO SOLO!!! We went golfing and had no problems at all getting all three bags and carriers in the PT. I do love that car!! The empty nest will take some getting some time to feel right. And the big downer is that school starts Monday!!

Lets cancel school this year and extend summer for another 9 months or so! We deserve it!

With four still at home, I am envious of you! It'll be quieter than normal, I'm sure, but you'll get used to it!

Oh how I envy you. I can't wait for the day to come when it's just me and the misses. The peace and quiet, no more yelling, no more loud obnoxious rap music, no more strange teenagers in the house, no more "can I have a million dollars?", no more buying food for 200, no more high electric bills because "someone" never turns anything off, no more "I need new clothes" 3 days after we bought the last new ones, no more ignorant teenagers thinking they are smarter than us, and no more "can you buy me a brand new Mustang?". All this and our daughter is only 11. Is it legal to kick them out before they're 12? >>)

Wow, I could have written the above paragraph, word for word, right down to the "can you buy me a brand new Mustang?" comment, except that my daughter is 15 not 11. So, sorry to say, it's not going to get any better for a while! The older one is 18 and we have one more year before she ships out to University, and as much as I love her, I look forward to that day - for one thing is should cut down on the bickering between the two of them!

And as far as the PT goes, my 18 year old didn't really like it until we got it and she was told she couldn't drive it. Ever since then, we get a lot of grumbling about why she can't drive "the cool car"!

Teenagers, sheesh! I could write volumes.....I will say though that they really are good kids, never been in trouble and do great in school. I'm learning not to sweat the small stuff! By the time they're gone, I will have mastered it!

Hey, I hear you and my son will be 10 in October. Try Brittney Spears and nsync (instead of rap). It would be o.k. if he didn't listen to it fully distorted. And how about that thump, thump, thump-thump bass deal going on? I am always yelling-hey Gus if you are going to play it that loud, I want to hear VanHalen (or Ozzy, or AC/DC). You can't play dance music that loud because there are no screaming guitars. These kids today will never learn! Oh for some peace and tranquility-now I know what my dad was talking about-all he wanted was peace and tranquility.

You guys will all regret your words! I HATE the empty nest thing! Both of my kids are off at college...you'll find once they do a year or so in the dorm, EVERYONE is getting an apt. So, basically, thats the beginning of not coming home holidays or summer vacation because of jobs or girlfriends or boyfriends...My daughter just moved up to Sacramento last weekend to a new apt...my baby! Wasn't it last week she was crawling up one side of me and down the other not wanting to go to pre-school? I'll take the obnoxious boyfriends, extra food bills and power bills, and god-awful rap blaring anyday! It is waay to quiet around here! BUT...I will admit....it's nice to "start" dating again with the hubby! Still...it sucks to get old!

Not to worry. I will be sending my 13 year old to live with you for awhile to cure your empty nest remorse. Just send him back home when he knows more than you too.
