Yeah it's expensive, but after testing out my new system, it's worth every hard earned penny in my humble opinion. Thanks HaroldOhio for your input, I LOVE the new sound.

Hello all! What about Kenwood, or AIWA or Pioneer? Anybody aware of a model that replaces the existing Radio/CD/cassette unit without much hastle? Are wiring harnesses a pain in the a** to get?
Without sounding radio dumb (although car radios are not my thing) how does one add a changer, sub woofer, etc. Meaning how much of a pain is it to run the wires (under the seat, in the rear cargo area etc) The stock system is ok, by the Pioneer I had in my truck had better sound. Don't want to spend big big $$ though. Just upgrade the speakers and unit, maybe add a changer & sub.Are the stock wires good enough to leave alone? Thanks to all!!! |

wiring harnesses are usually simple to get from your local car audio dealer (just tell them car and head unit). where you run the wires depends on where and what you're installing. most wires are run under the plastic trim at the bottom of the door openings and other plastic trim pieces (be careful pulling it up), but they can be run almost anywhere you can cram them in
. I swapped out my speaker wires when i put the amp in, but they were enough to run just the increased power from a new head unit alone.hope this answers some of your questions daaper

Added in an amp under the drivers seat, a DVD under the passenger seat, a PS2 in the back, 7 inch drop down screen in the roof & 2 ,12 inch subs (in addition to the stock stock speakers). It's pretty cool....for now.I'd like to upgrade the speakers in the factory areas, lose the 12's in exchange for a bigger amp & 2, 10's.
My kids love watching Forest Gump with the "surround sound" on....you can REALLY feel those bombs going off!! ![]()
